Museum de Fundatie - Zwolle

Saturday I visited the new museum "de Fundatie" in Zwolle the Netherlands. When you are in the bulb on top of the museum, it gives you a nice view over the city. The skin of the bulb is made of small tiles made by Koninklijke Tichelaar (Makkum). What is nice is that in a certain way the bulb is disappearing in the blue sky when you see it from a distance. Great & nice collection.

This month, the rich history, culture and status of pearls will be brought to light in an exhibition at the V&A that will showcase over 200 pieces of jewellery. Pieces drawn from the V&A and QMA’s collections sit alongside jewellery from Tate Britain, The British Museum and The Royal Collection as well as established jewellery houses such as Tiffany & Co, Bulgari, Cartier and René Lalique.

Ancient Roman jewels made as early as the 1st century AD, fine examples of pearls worn by Indian Maharajas and European nobility,  a pearl-drop earring worn by Charles I at his execution in 1649 and a necklace given to Marilyn Monroe in 1954 are just some of the highlights that will sit alongside contemporary jewellery be designers practising today.

Last weekend we visited one of my favorites museums the Textielmuseum in Tilburg. The exhibitions are always great and I very much like the TextielLab where you can see all the machines at work. Student and creative people can use the machines for their ideas.
After this we visited the Museum De Pont which is close to TextielMuseum. I heard a lot about the museum but never had the opportunity - till now. It's a very nice and bright museum with contemporary art.

Today the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam reopened after 10 years of renovation. I hope I can visit it very soon and see it all by myself.
